This oval medal is finished with a continuous beaded rope-edge border, giving the rim a raised, individually textured feel rather than a smooth frame. St Christopher's portrait is picked out in enamel colour, with soft red, blue and gold tones filling the engraved lines so the detail reads with more depth than plain gold engraving alone. It hangs from a fixed rectangular bail, keeping the medal sitting flush and centred rather than swinging loose on the chain.
